Yes, that's my real name. I have to live with that so, be kind. :) I hope you find something worth wile in the video's I've created. If I'm able to inspire a few people who are just getting started or progressing in their craft that would be a HUGE bonus to me and it would totally make my day.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. It is very much appreciated. I truly hope you are able to take something away from what I do....even if it's only a smile.
Cheers!!

Craft Fair Project
Hey! It's been a while. How ya doing? Today I have a simple and very inexpensive craft fair project that you could use for yourself, make as a gift or if you do craft shows, then you could make a really nice profit by selling it. Let's get started.
=================================================
The materials I used for this project were:
2 different size branches from a white oak
1/2" poplar dowel
Minwax English Chestnut stain for the base
General finishes Early American water based dye/stain for everything else.
Garnett Shellac (2lb cut) for the finish.
Holes in the middle of each piece are from a 5/8" spade bit
Hole in the middle of the base that holds the dowel was made by a 1/2" brad point bit

Air Drying Wood Follow Up
Переглядів 1,9 тис.5 років тому
One year ago I put out a video on how I go about air drying green wood or freshly cut slabs of wood (the link to that video is below). In that video I showed 2 slabs of freshly cut Black Walnut so, since it's been a year, I thought a follow up showing those same 2 slabs and the results I achieved would be in order. Brilliant
You need some digital scales. That would make life so much simpler
Excellent thank you 🙏
So you made whip on poly. They sell that, but it cheaper to make it like you did
Great job
For a cheaper pre-conditioner instead of over the counter product. I like to brew 3x concentrate of espresso coffee let it cool and use it as my pre-stain/pre-conditioner. It seems to work way better. I like to use two coats and let dry completely. You'll noticed a completely even coat with 2/3 coats. Do not use water based stain, only oil base for obvious reasons.
Here is a greatly exploitable example; of a thoroughly exploitable UA-cam creator - self created & very thoroughly self-absorbed - to be most money-generating-useful; to the the highest degree possible - by way of self And human intellect, loving coveting - mass populations; loved & wannabe-worshiped; type (money generating entertainers) made by over-educated-up - masses choice of most popular; as the most cleverly sellable higher-intellects; Who generate mass wealth from the masses at the expense of an Acceleratingly depleted & over-toxified-nature of God's Used to be predominantly free of charge as now As now most scientifically efficient methods - becoming increasingly rapidly Unsustainable as the Earth is ( Overly conveniently with money making) "nolonger toiled for our provision" to be composeable & Natural and biodegradable - But is now thoroughly to become painted up all for the money from the sale (& thus Overtoxified by masses of little money generators making it an unsustainable) provisions systems. ALL FOR THE EXCESSIVE-Convenience OF "All For The Money" excessively-conveniently & In-Excess. We need to get back to a strictly locally provisioned village-Way of life; before it's too late - as the result of this world trade situation Of training up mass populations into human ant colonies, generating wealth for their wealthy overlords. Of Excessive Money empowered money funded & such as AI type Excessive lawyers led over-complicated Science of economies governed control of mass-populations. And then we will have to install c.C.T v cameras of our village borders and gates to show when the governments come in to retrain the simple people back into city dwellers over consuming the face of the earth
Can you tell me please.. how loud is it? In decibels.
so it's been a few years...how has the Rikon sander been ? Too big, too small, power? would love to hear a full review
Thank you very much for the instructions. Really great comparison between different wood finishes, that one can make at home. Also very to the point video!
Best jig I've seen yet. Thanks
If you don't want to spend money on non-stick PE bushings, cut a few 2" x 2" pieces of plastic cling wrap and cover your steel bushings. Secure the folded-over corners with tape or a rubber band. CA won't stick to cling wrap or plastic bag material.
It would be nice if there was a way to speed up drying times without using solvents which increase costs and reduce the amount of build you get per coat.
Please please slow down and make it much clearer.
If u need quick, nothing beats lacquer imo
It's my understanding that *all* wood finishes are food-safe, once they're fully cured.
I agree with you!!! And secondly all these stores are selling us stuff like that anyways I'm very pretty sure they're gonna cut corners to save money so I doubt that they're selling us things that are very protective and safe a 100% for us to eat or drink with!!
So.... my *BIGGEST* beef (and it's a huge one): How do you sand a long 2x4? Say I've got a 4' long board. I can sand 15" of one end, then turn the board and do the other 15". But there's NO way to sand the center portion. With my ancient 6x36" Craftsman, you have access to the whole belt, so you can lay the wood flat on it. With this piece of junk, the plastic dust collection piece (belt rear cover) blocks you from using the belt on the middle of the board. The fact that the longest piece you can sand is 30" is a real drawback -- I wish I'd known that before I purchased. I'm ready to get the saw and cut that piece out of the way so I can use it as a 6x48" sander.....
Too much of introduction and repetitive sentences.
Thanks for the crash course in diy furniture polish and preservatives! Watched the series and now know about 500x what I did before.
Japan Dryer is the answer. You don't need allot and works fast.

THE ONES YOU BY AT HD
Actually Canada's is princess auto. Hf is far better than you claim as well.
Well done. I'm not a Red Sox fan, but Sam Adams makes a fine brew!
I bought one of those (crappy) sanders. The belt slips.... right out of the box. The disk sander is OK, but the belt sander is crap.
Yet another way to CA. Amazing to a new pen turner the CA variations So, no problem putting CA over the polish?
I had been debating using pine in a future project but had concerns. The information you included about grain direction was absolutely what I was looking for when I found this video, and your explanation was clear and easy to understand. Thank you!
It looks like you primarily utilize this sander for wood, but can you comment on the construction if used for steel? I have the lower cost Bucktool version, and although much of it is cast iron, the dust cover below the disc sander and the exhaust port are actually plastic and can't handle the hot debris and has started to melt. How do you think this unit would handle metal work? Thanks in advance!
Thank you for being a friend.😢💔🙏
Thank you
Thanks for the tips! I bought some Monterey Pine slabs that have been air dried for 3 years, but they still have a lot of residual moisture in them. I'll definitely give this a try!
Hello, first of all, thank you for a great video. I live in Turkey and there is no mineral oil for sale. What would you recommend I use instead? There is a Kitchen ware oil sale, I wonder if it will do the same.
I don't use wood for the runners on the jig because wood contracts and expands with moisture I use plastic tracks other that Good Job 😉
Thanks Chris! Can this sprayed using an HVLP sprayer? If yes do I wipe off excess or let it dry?
Ideally you would spray thin coats thus letting it dry. sand between the coats until you've built up the finish you are looking for.
Awesome video!! Thanks for that. Im working on designing a bag using steam bent wood. Chris, (or others here) do you know if bending a piece of softwood (can be hardwood but trying to stay light) about a 1/4" thick, 11" long and 8.5" tall would be doable? I usually see people doing shorter (or narrower) pieces and wondering what is possible
absolutely it's doable. You're going to want quarter sewn wood tho...
Your speaking voice is tremendous. Thank you for this video.
What would you recommend on 20 year old oak cabinets for a new look? No paints. Thanks
Who else is sitting here watching this vid while waiting for their project to dry?
sure miss your videos
How can I do stamp concrete floor vanish
Youre thinking of princess auto, clone of harbor freight, canadian tire is a horse of a different color,
Nice finished project. I am looking to make darts for my son. My concern is that the lead wool will move with use and change the balance of the darts. Any thoughts on adding CA clue to the tube to prevent movement of the wool?
@@chriscute7528 thanks for the reply! Exactly the info I was looking for. Great video.
Love the shift to the "unintentional design change!" Great attitude towards life
This is well done. Thank you Chris! I especially like that you just video your work without a lot of cutesy commentary. Just basic woodworking. I will make this jig!
Great video! How’s this holding up after all these years?
Would u recommend using Briwax on 22 year old oak kitchen cabinets to even up all the wear and tear on them? Or will the high traffic areas need to b touched up frequently?
The music in the beginning is barely tolerable however the project turned out to be okay
perfect thank you
